Why a pond needs to be cleaned and what happens if a garden pond is left and not maintained.

This is a subject we face a number of time per year, some new customers a lot of them tell us they have never do it before in over 30 years and they have never had a problem before.

You see there are a lot of factors that come into the picture and all depends on the pond and its position in the garden, How much sunlight it receives per day, how many trees are around it, what sort of filtration set up is installed for the pond, haw many fish are in the pond, how often do they get fed, do they eat all the food and the list goes on and on

You get some really great ponds with no filtration and you get a lot of ponds that done give any hassles at all but on the other hand you get ponds that just have problems after problems and never stop with hassles.

At the end of the day most of the ponds we come across that are hassle free mostly have good regular maintaining, the customer will go once a week taking leave out the pond, doing a quick 2 minute filter clean, small water top up and its done.

when a customer takes our advice and dose this once per week even every 2nd week the pond filter and pumps are able to operate at optimum performance, this allows the right amount of water turn over that's required, keeping the load off the pump prolonging its life and allowing for that good filtration.

Its not only filtration but its also the correct amount of Uv sterilisation onto the right amount of water that its designed to do because its flowing freely and able to flow.

The Uv sterilisation is what keeps the water that Christal clear even in sharp direct sunlight but if it starts to become pea soup 99% of the time the uv has gone or stopped working or the glass is too dirty for the Uv light to make contact onto the water.

With ponds our customer regular do this process only need to change filter sponges every 2 to 3 years, when we come around to do the regular maintenance check up and they not needed to be changed we don't change them saving our customer on parts and time reducing the overall price, all we will do on the filter is the regular check up, grease the seals & o-rings, clean the pump and change the Uv glob and we done, taking less than an hour to complete.
